SalesAgility are delighted to announce that the 7th UK Open Source Awards (UKOSA) will take place on Thursday May 21st 2020. We’re also delighted to announce that once again they’ll be held in the Edinburgh University Computing faculty’s Informatics Forum.
The awards are designed to recognise and celebrate the innovation, diversity, collaboration and creativity that are core components of Open Source software creation and maintenance. Previous winners have included contributors from several NHS healthcare projects, the Gnome project, Collabora (LibreOffice) and students from Edinburgh and Aberystwyth Universities.
This years awards attracted nearly 70 nominations. That’s a high bar and one that UKOSA aims to exceed for 2020. We don’t want to make it too easy for the judges. If you know of any deserving projects, people or organisations, please nominate them once the nominations dates are announced.
The Open Source Awards and Nominations
There are Awards in 5 categories:
1. Individual Award – for outstanding contributions to Open Source.
2. Company Award – for outstanding contribution to Open Source either through product development or contributions to projects.
3. Public Sector and Third Sector Award – for an outstanding Open Source project in the UK public sector or third sector.
4. Diversity Award – in recognition of diversity in UK Open Source.
5. Student Award – a cash prize of £1,500 for an outstanding contribution to Open Source from currently matriculated UK students.
Sponsors, judges, speakers, nomination and judging dates will all be announced in Q1 2020. There’s a lot of work to be done and we’re really looking forward to meeting old friends and making new ones.
In the meantime, SalesAgility would urge everyone to add this date to their diaries and to look for announcements early next year.
As always, the Awards website can be found at https://www.opensourceawards.org.
